5 Things You Need To Travel A Horse

You need your horse's passport to travel them and in some places, you need a health certificate.  Always carry these things while travelling your horse as it is illegal to do otherwise.

For travelling your horse you will need some horseware to keep your horse safe.  This may include the following -

  • Poll Protector
  • Travelling boots, bandages or pads
  • Tail protector or tail bandage
  • Leather or safety headcollar
  • sweat rug
  • Quick release lead rope

Next, you will need to pack some water, hay and bedding.  Even if you are not travelling for long distances you want your horse to have a haynet while travelling, bedding in the horse box and water to give your horse drinks.

A first aid kit is essential for travelling as there are a huge amount of injuries that can occur while travelling your horse.  You can check out what you need for an equine first aid kit here.

Lastly, you are going to need some tools.  This can include the following -

  • Mucking out tools
  • basic car tools (for Breakdowns)
  • Basic other tools (for fixing anything, removing things in emergencies)
